Scholarships delayed for Vedic students in Kakinada
The Vedic students in MSN Charities have been complaining that the Endowments Department and Brahmin Corporation ignored them as they were unable to get their scholarships of Rs 35,000 each for the past three years.
Kakinada: The Vedic students in MSN Charities have been complaining that the Endowments Department and Brahmin Corporation ignored them as they were unable to get their scholarships of Rs 35,000 each for the past three years.
There are 17 students learning Vedic studies in MSN Charities at Kakinada. The Brahmin Corporation introduced `Veda Vyasa' scheme to give scholarships to the Vedic students. Many students who belong to the poor are unable to get caste certificates.
Earlier, former MLA Pill Anantha Lakshmi took up the issue as an MLA and appealed to the Endowments Department to mention their caste in the study certificates issued by the MSN Charities and Brahmin Corporation should accept it.
Then both Brahmin Corporation and Endowment Department have agreed for the proposal and issued certificates, mentioning caste. But, the corporation has not yet released any scholarships to the students.
MSN Charities executive officer Chalapathi Rao said that he was unaware of the issue of Vedic students. The Brahmin Corporation has not approached him on the issue so far. He said that the students applied for the scholarships privately and they have not contacted him for help. Deputy Commissioner of Endowments Durga Prasad also expressed his ignorance on the issue.
The Vedic students should apply for scholarships to the Brahmin Corporation on or before October 15. Otherwise, they would miss the chance to get scholarships this year also.Vedic teacher N Balu Avadhani said that MSN Charities Vedic School was closed for Dasara festival. Again it will be reopened on October 15.
