Tirupati: Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS), the city-based national-level NGO general secretary G Muniratnam appealed the MPs from Chittoor district to recommend to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to relax age limit of 18 for the challenged children (mentally retarded) for availing relief and rehabilitation schemes being implemented by the Centre.

Muniratnam, who met the newly elected MPs including B Durgaprasad (Tirupati) and Reddappa (Chittoor) here on Saturday and briefed RASS wide range of social service activities and also the difficulties the NGOs facing in carrying out their activities. He explained the age limit coming in the way of MR children completed 18 years of age but still direly require support for their relief and rehabilitation.

The two MPs assured to take up the issue with concerned to provide relief to the families facing hardships in the care of their MR children. Muniratnam also made a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy and congratulated him for achieving prominent post in the cabinet.
