However, as per the recorded information available now, Rudraksha became popular only 300 years ago and for the last six decades, it has been very popular among several devotees.
The spiritual seed Rudraksha needs to be kept always near to the skin which escalates the potentiality of the body, protects energy, helps for spiritual enlightenment, keeps off the bad effects of evil spirits and destroys the mental imbalances along with setting aside other mental diseases and also all types of phobias, it is widely believed.
As per a survey, 30 percent of people are using Rudraksha for spiritual purpose, 35 percent for mental trouble and 35 percent for cardiac troubles. Now Rudraksha malas are seen around the neck of noted pontiffs, sages, spiritual personalities, politicians, doctors, astrologers and even students and youth.
Rudrakshas are available right from with single face to 36 faces and the prices vary based on the availability of the spiritual seed. A single face Rudraksha costs Rs 10,000, five face Rudraksha Rs 100, 36 faces Rudraksha Rs 5 crore (since availability of this variety seed is rare), 14 faces Rudraksha 95,000, 15 faces Rudraksha Rs 1 lakh, one face Rudraksha Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000, seven faces Rudraksha Rs 2,000, eight faces Rudraksha Rs 5,000 and Rs 26 faces Rudraksha costs Rs 27,000.
Due to the craze about Rudrakshas, Rudraksha expos are getting tremendous response from the people. Cutting across the age, both men and women use the sacred seed embedding them in silver or in gold as per their capacity. Though Rudraksha was in white color in the early stages, later it changes its color to brown and black.
It is believed that the single face Rudraksha is a symbol of Parabrahman, the two face Rudraksha is a symbol of Shiva and Parvathi, the three face Rudraksha is symbol of Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma, the four face Rudraksha is symbol of Brahma, the five face Rudraksha is symbol of Siva-Kaalagni, the six face Rudraksha is a symbol of Karthikeya, the seven face Rudraksha is symbol of Saptamatrika, the eight face Rudraksha symbilises Ganesha, the nine face Rudraksha symbolises Bhairava, the ten face Rudraksha is symbol of Janardhana, the 11 face Rudraksha symbolises Ekadasa Rudras, the twelve face Rudraksha is symbol of Dwadasa Aditya, the thirteen face Rudraksha symbolises Kaama Deva and the fourteen face Rudraksha is symbol of Hanuman.
India-Nepal Rudraksha Organisation (INRO) founders G Satish Kumar and G Gunneshwara Rao said that Rudrakshas are available in plenty in Nepal followed by Indonesia and also now in Haridwar in India.
They said that different Rudraksha malas such as Shiva Mala, Narayana Mala, Dharmika Mala, Ardha Narishwara Mala, Lakshmi Mala, Ganesh Mala, Hanuman Mala, Saraswathi Mala, Gowri Mala, Siddha Mala and others who have their own identity.
From the year 2000 Rudraksha usage has increased manifold among people. They said they have been in the field since a long time. The duo underlined the need to cultivate the sacred seed in the country on a massive scale.
