Rajamahendravaram: There is no shortage of drug ingredients, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) and also Key Staring Material (KSM) relating to 58 category of medicines identified by central government, relating to Coronavirus in the State, said Andhra Pradesh Drugs Control Administration director-general Dr A Mallikarjuna.

According to a press note released by him, the Department inspected many medicine manufacturing units and found there is no scarcity of API or KSM. Meanwhile, the central government also imposed ban on the export of 26 variety of medicines. The department has started a central monitoring unit to check the availability of medicines.

The Director-General also warned the erring medical shop managements of stern action if they sell the medicines for higher prices or create an artificial shortage.

He appealed to the people to inform any information relating selling medicines at higher prices or unauthorized stocks of medicines to central monitoring committee over phone number 0863-2339246 /94901 53357 or through [email protected].

Meanwhile, East Godavari District Assistant Director A Vijay Sekhar has said along with him, five drug inspectors checked 25 shops in the district on Friday and said the medical shops owners were directed to sell the masks for Rs 20 only.
