Amaravati: Ilapuram Raja took oath as Commissioner for Right To Information Act, on Wednesday at Secretariat at Velagapudi. The oath taking ceremony was administered by the Chief Secretary LV Subrahmanyam. Raja was appointed as Commissioner by the Governor ESL Narasimhan as suggested by the three member committee headed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Minister for Legislative Affairs Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Though Jagan did not attend the selection committee meeting, his name was finalized as per the rules governing the appointment of Commissioners under the RTI Act.
At this juncture, Subrahmanyam suggested Raja to conduct interactive sessions with various departments to create awareness among the government officials and public on the importance and usage of RTI Act.
CS also enquired about the pending complaints under the RTI Act in the state. He suggested the Commissioner to focus on what type of complaints have been coming from public.
The state government already appointed three members as Commissioners and now Raja became fourth one in this office. He will continue on this post for next five years.
