Tirupati: In a bid to provide easy access and identification for passengers, South Central Railway (SCR) has named various entry points in railway stations.
The main station building is called as Terminal 1 and another side of station building as Terminal 2 or identifying them with their direction like north, east, west and south. Similarly, they have provided gate numbers at stations so that people can easily identify and reach a gate without any confusion, making them more passenger friendly.
Having completed the exercise in all divisions in the SCR limits, now they have sent the details to all the 68 divisions across the country to consider it for implementation.
Speaking to the media in Tirupati on Wednesday, the Chief Commercial Manager (Catering and Passenger Services) KV Rao has said that the SCR is taking steps to print the train number, coach and berth numbers in bold letters so that passengers can easily identify them. He also said that soon a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) will be launched by the Central government with which one can travel in any mode of transport and swipe the card there to pay the amount.
He also said that steps were being taken to avoid ticketless travel in trains and instructions are given to the TTEs in this regard.
The TTEs have been generating a revenue of Rs 2 crore per hour in the country from such passengers. Still, it should be avoided with a motive to give best service to the public. Geo-tagging will be done at every station and porters will be provided nominated places in circulating area to enable passengers to locate them easily.
Earlier, he planted saplings on the station premises along with Station Director S Nagaramana Sarma, Station Manager K Rajendra Prasad, other officials including Nithin Pachouri, R Siva Prasad, B Saidaiah, A Parameswar Raju and others. He also held meetings separately with TTEs, Safai Karmacharis and catering staff to take note of their problems.
