A landmark Rathotsavam, mass Vratham by 1,100 couples and devotional concerts by noted artistes mark a spiritually charged centenary celebration, drawing thousands of devotees as leaders and dignitaries joined to honour Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s legacy

Puttaparthi: The centenary celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba witnessed a historic milestone on Tuesday with the grand conduct of the first-ever Sri Sathya Sai Rathotsavam here.

Former Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu led the dignitaries at the event, alongside state ministers Anagani Satya Prasad, Y Satya Kumar Yadav, S Savitha and MLAs Palle Sindhura Reddy and Paritala Sunitha.

The guests were formally welcomed by R J Rathnakar, managing trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.

The day began with the Sri Sai Sathya Narayana Vratham, performed by 1,100 couples at Sai Kulwant Hall, creating an atmosphere charged with devotion. This was followed by a special puja to the newly constructed Silver Sri Sathya Sai chariot, performed by Rathnakar and Himavahini Rathnakar, marking the ceremonial launch of the Rathotsavam. Thousands of devotees from across India and abroad thronged Puttaparthi to witness the spiritually significant event.

In the evening, a devotional music presentation titled ‘Suranjali’ by renowned singers Abby V and Antara Nandy captivated devotees at Sai Kulwant Hall. Their soulful performances included “Sathyam Shivam Sundaram,” “Ek Radha Ek Meera,” ‘Brahmamokkate,’ and traditional Pandhari bhajans.

The programme concluded with bhajans and Mangala Harati, bringing the spiritually enriching day to a serene close as part of the 100th Birth Centenary celebrations.
