Public unable to buy even biscuits: Raghavulu
The public in the country are unable to buy even biscuit packets due to the grave financial crisis facing the country, said the CPM politburo member, BV Raghavulu.
Ongole: The public in the country are unable to buy even biscuit packets due to the grave financial crisis facing the country, said the CPM politburo member, BV Raghavulu.
He participated in a workshop on 'Financial Crisis and its effect on various groups of people' here on Sunday, as part of the protesting programme against the central government demanding to address the growing inflation jointly by the CPI and CPM parties.
Raghavulu said that the public lost the purchasing power and as a result, the products were getting rotted in the warehouses. He said that the automobile industry was already facing a very hard time and not a single car is being sold these days and about 10 lakh people are losing their livelihood. He said that the sales of clothes, ornaments, cosmetics have dropped and even sale of biscuits is reduced by 50 percent.
He said that the GDP has decreased from 8 per cent in 2014 to 5 per cent in 2019 and unemployment is growing year after year. He said that agriculture is facing a very tough time and is in the crisis.
He alleged that Prime Minister Modi has helped the corporate companies to the tune of Rs 1.45 lakh crores by reducing the tax from 35 per cent to 25 percent but neglected the plight of farmers who are suffering for a minimum support price.
He demanded that the government pay a minimum salary of Rs 21000 to the workers and give assurance of MSP to the farmers including their investment on the crop. He said that the government cannot eradicate the financial crisis without addressing the crisis in agriculture. He demanded that the government take immediate measures and control the inflation in the country and save the common public.
The workshop passed resolutions introduced by the CPM East Prakasam secretary Punati Anjaneyulu and CPI Prakasam secretary ML Narayana. The resolutions include demands that the central government should pay unemployment allowance, pay a minimum salary of Rs 21000 to workers, pay a minimum allowance to workers who lost jobs due to inflation, pay the dues pending in MGNREGS and provide 200 workdays in the scheme, implement loan waiver and MSP for farmers etc.
