Port city honours teachers for excellence in education
Teachers’ Day is marked as a day for expressing gratitude and respect to all the selfless efforts made by the teachers.
Visakhapatnam: Teachers' Day is marked as a day for expressing gratitude and respect to all the selfless efforts made by the teachers. Interestingly, the students in the Port City started prepping for this day from a week ahead.
However, in few schools, the senior grade students took up the role of teachers and lectured the first two periods, so that the teacher could have a good leisure time with their staff.
While, some schools in the city planed a surprise to their teachers with classroom decoration, games and other cultural dance performance for the teachers. Teachers were rewarded with warm gesture and gifts.
Sainik School, Korukonda
Teachers' Day was celebrated in a most befitting manner at Sainik School, Korukonda. School Principal Col Arun Kulkarni lit the lamp and garlanded the photo of late Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. On the occasion, he highlighted the role of teachers in shaping the society through the ages.
Vice Principal Wing Commander CS Bhanuprakash announced M N Narayanan, TGT in Social Sciences was adjudge as the Best Teacher of the school for the academic year 2018-19. The Principal presented the award and felicitated M N Narayanan.
The schools honoured the teachers with appreciation certificates for achieving high subject averages in Class X and XII in CBSE Examination. Later the cadets presented bouquets to the teachers and honoured all the staff.
On the occasion of Teachers' Day, a function was organised in the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the teachers of CBSE affiliated schools functioning under the aegis of the Command.
'Best in Academics Trophy' was awarded to Navy Children's School, Visakhapatnam for obtaining outstanding results in Class X and XII . The Principals of 14 CBSE affiliated schools attended the event in addition to the teachers. Flag officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Naval Command Vice- Admiral Atul Kumar Jain awarded the trophy to the Principal of Navy Children School Parul Kumar.
The school celebrated Teachers' Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. As the day commemorates the birth anniversary of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. A special assembly was organised on the occasion, Director Ranganayaki, Principal Visalakshi and Head Mistress Arundhati paid floral tributes to the portrait of Sarvepalli RadhaKrishnan.
An article highlighting the values of a teacher was presented in the assembly. Children presented songs thanking their teachers for guiding them. The Principal Visalakshi wished the teachers and advised the teachers to adopt various devices to bring out the best in students.
Head Mistress Arundhati greeted the teachers and students. Teachers' day celebrated at Dr B R Ambedkar College of Technology and Science. Many government schools and colleges too joined hands to celebrate the day with a host of activities.
