Amaravati: Reacting on Tamil Nadu High Court's verdict on authority of elected government, CM N Chandrababu Naidu said that it vindicated his stand on the popularly elected government's powers. He reacted on twitter on Tuesday, after the HC gave directions in a case related to Puducherry.

Chief Minister stated that, "Nurturing democracy requires interpretation of provisions of the Constitution in its true spirit. The verdict of Tamil Nadu High Court's Madurai bench clarifies the powers of the elected government in Puducherry."

Naidu stated that, "It vindicated our stand that People's aspirations can be fulfilled only through popularly elected governments not appointed representatives."

He directly applied that statement to present situation in the state on the wake of Election Commission of India has enforced Model Code of Conduct even after concluding the polling in AP.

The Chief Minister has been demanding the ECI to relax MCC in the state as polling for both Lok Sabha and Assembly have completed in the first phase itself, that is on April 11. The Chief Minister explained that as there is large gap between the polling date and counting date - 43 days - the governance in the state is came to stand still, since the elected body has not been allowed to function.

It is worth to mention here that, Naidu has wrote a detailed letter to ECI in the last week, requesting to suggest Chief Electoral Officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi to allow him to conduct reviews in the public interest.
