Vizianagaram: Locals and cultural associations recalled their association with the legendary director K Viswanath after his demise on Thursday night. Viswanath visited Vizianagaram in 2003 to receive Gurajada Memorial Award conferred by Gurajada Cultural Federation and spent a day. He was highly appreciative of culture and traditions of the town, which produced such legends as Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao, Suseela and others.

Kapuganti Prakash, general secretary of Gurajada Samskruthika Samakhya, said that Viswanath spent some days here in 1994 during the shooting of the film Subha Sankalpam and prominent dance exponent DY Sampath Kumar had taught Jalari Nrutyam dance to hero Kamal Haasan for the movie in the presence of Viswanath.

Guruprasad Samudrala wrote Viswanath's biography which was released by Viswanath himself. Guruprasad said that he was blessed and fortunate to write a book on the great director.
