Peanut Farmers to be Compensated: Venkata Ramana
Out of identified 63,000 peanut farmers from seven districts, about 28,000 peanut farmers will get compensation by end of this month or next month after verification of their records, explained Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, Minister for Marketing.

Addressing at a press conference here at Secretariat on Monday, he said that, to compensate the peanut farmers from seven districts due to the huge loss, the government under the price stabilization fund has allocated Rs 330 crore. So far, 63,000 farmers have been identified and compensated with Rs 75 crore. Financial assistance of Rs 45,000 for five acres has been calculated as compensation for every identified peanut farmer.
He directed the officials not to irk the farmers and create problems for them in E- crop listing issue. Although the peanut farmers have not enlisted the peanuts in E-crop listing, the Chief Minister asked to consider those farmers by verifying the peanut stocks at godowns.
Despite the heavier prices for Onions, the government purchased 700 metric tonnes and sold at Rs 25 per kg. It added Rs 200 crore additional burden on the government, said the Minister.
Under price stabilization fund, Rs 6 crore allocated for Subabul farmers, said Minister.
He said that dry godowns will be established to the crops that needed to be stored for a long time to get MSP. And cold storages at few regions that are rich in aquaculture and marine products.
