Over 6k PG students to be affected with new fee reimbursement guidelines in AP

Tirupati: With latest GOs No. 60 and 115 which were issued by the AP state social welfare department led to students stir in Chittoor District on Saturday. Government clearly indicated in those two GOs that now onwards Jagananna Vidya Deevena and Jagananna Vasthi Deevena schemes ( fees reimbursement ) will not be applicable to Private Colleges PG students in the State. Across the 13 Districts around 1.5 lakh, PG students were affected by these latest GOs. SFI, AISF and other left students organisations have been opposing these fees and reimbursement withdrawal orders bitterly.

As of now private colleges, students were also having fees reimbursement under the Vidya and Vasathi Deevena. While no newly issued government guidelines pushed the poor students into troubles who were studying in private colleges with the support of fees reimbursement schemes. From this month 25.12.2020 fees reimbursement was not applicable to private colleges PG students who have been pursuing their MSc, MCom, MBA, MA and other courses.

For example in Chittoor District, Only more than 6,000 students will be affected by these new GOs. In this connection, SFI Tirupati Committee students staged a protest in front of RDO office here on Saturday. More than an hour students raised slogans against the social welfare department and demanded to withdraw the GOs 60 and 115.

In this connection speaking to The Hans India, SFI District Secretary N Madava Krishan criticised that YSRCP Government is implementing anti-poor people policies. As part of that now the social welfare department has issued two GOs to cut the fees reimbursement to poor students who were studying in private institutions.

He added that SFI will continue to stir until the government withdraws the antis students welfare GOs. Over this issue, we are going to take up a campaign among the students against the social welfare department issued GOs.
