Kurnool: The prices of Onions in the Kurnool market are increasing day by day. On Wednesday afternoon, the maximum cost per quintal has risen to Rs 12,510. By the time the auction is over, these prices are likely to increase further. Onion supplies are also available at the state-run farmers' bazaars to provide onion to the consumers. Consumers who come to buy onions are backing away in frustration.

Earlier, the Kurnool market had yielded about 5,000 to 6,000 quintals of onion every day, but now the onion market has only one thousand quintals a day. With the completion of the cultivation of this onion, yields have declined. On the other hand, the government has instructed the authorities to sell the onions to consumers at a subsidy. Prices are skyrocketing with yard officials, and traders are competing in purchasing onions.
