Ongole: The Prakasam district collector Dr Pola Bhasakara ordered the officials to make arrangements to set up 10,000 farm producers' councils in the district.

He conducted a meeting with the officials at the Spandana meeting hall on Wednesday, on Farmers' Organisations And Farm Producers' councils and advised them to create awareness among farmers.

The collector announced that the farmers would get several benefits under the new system, Rythu Prakasam. He ordered the officials to set up at least 10 farm producers' councils, with 15 to 19 members for each village secretariat. He ordered the agriculture and Velugu officials to complete the formation of the councils by December 26 and see the 879 villages secretariats have 10,000 councils. He said that a separate website for Rythu Prakasam will be developed to store the details of the farmers along with the linkage of godowns to the producers' councils.

The collector advised the officials to make sure that the members of the councils cultivate the same variety of crops and follow the instructions strictly and innovatively. He asked them to identify the active members from the councils and organisations and make them directors and members of the supervising committees and form a managing committee at the district level. He ordered them to provide necessary training to the members who joined the councils and reach the target.

The joint collector J Venkata Murali said that the names of the farmers must be registered at the time of purchasing the paddy, following the government rules. He said the staff at the Rythu Bharosa Centres should work with commitment and advised the ground level staff to play an active role in the implementation of the scheme.

The agriculture JD Srirama Murthy, DRDA PD PV Narayana, PR SE Kondaiah, APMIP PD Raveendra Babu, groundwater department DD B Nagaraju, horticulture AD Nagababu, agriculture DD Srinivasa Rao, and other Velugu, agriculture officers also participated in the meeting.
