Vijayawada: On the occasion of 73rd Independence Day celebrations, Amrutha Hastam Charitable Trust led by Dara Karunasree started its second project 'Old Cloths Bank'. The project was inaugurated by Consumer Forum president R Madhava Rao here on Thursday. Madhava Rao hoisted the Tricolour and later inaugurated the old cloths bank project.

He said that old cloths bank is a good initiative which would help the poor who cannot afford to buy cloths. He said that people can send their old cloths to the Amrutha Hastam trust and they would collect the old cloths and distribute to the needy. He appreciated the trust organiser Karunasree for her initiation and recalled that Amrutha Hastam's food distribution was a big success which has fed lakhs of people in the city.

Karuna Sree said that about 2,000 old cloths were collected on the first day and would collect about one lakh old cloths in a month. The members of the trust celebrated Rakhi festival and later saplings were distributed on the occasion. Convener Krishna Kishore, secretary Mahesh, treasurer K Anjaneyulu, G Dilip and others were present.
