Officials told to prepare action plan to curb seasonal diseases

Visakhapatnam: Collector K Bhaskar directed the officials to gear up to face any challenges on seasonal diseases in the district. He directed the medical and health department to prepare a special action plan to control the seasonal diseases in the district.
The collector convened a review meeting with concerned officials on Monday to control the dengue, malaria, chikungunya and other viral fevers in the district. Officials from the medical and health, PSUs, educational institutions and representatives from other establishments were attended to the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the collector directed the officials to take measures to control the seasonal diseases. During the last year, there were many numbers of dengue and malaria cases have been reported. Considering this, the collector asked all the officials to work collectively to ensure zero dengue and malaria cases. One nodal officer should be appointed to take up the precautionary measures at all the establishments to ensure zero dengue and malaria cases, the collector ordered.
With the mercury levels rising, cases of diarrhoea and viral fevers have started and the officials should be alert and start steps to control the diseases. The medical and health, sanitation workers should visit their respective places to check sanitation works. The collector also directed the GVMC and other local body officials to check the drainages and other water reserve bodies in advance.
The water head tanks, stored water drums and septic tanks should also be checked to prevent the dengue fevers. He directed the GVMC officials to appoint one special officer in each division and ensure every Friday as a dry day.seasonal diseases
