The State Election Commission on Friday has released the notification for the local body elections.
The State Election Commission on Friday has released the notification for the local body elections. As per the notice issued, the first phase of election will for MPTC and ZPTC be held on March 21 followed by the second phase of elections on March 24. While the elections for the municipal is scheduled on March 27. The counting of votes and declaration of results will be on March 29.
Earlier, the government had finalized the reservations for local bodies and forwarded to the state election commission on Friday.
The YSRCP government has issued an ordinance on the Panchayat Raj act stating the disqualification of the contestants who commit to irregularities in the election of local bodies. The ordinance says that if any contestant convicted of irregularities in local elections, he will be sentenced to imprisonment to a maximum of three years and a fine of Rs 10,000.
