Market products no match to mother's milk: JC
Joint Collector has said that milk products available in market cannot provide the much needed nutrient values a baby gets from breast feeding.
Eluru: Joint Collector has said that milk products available in market cannot provide the much needed nutrient values a baby gets from breast feeding. He participated as chief guest at the ongoing Breast Feeding Week celebrations organised by Woman and Child Welfare department here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said by breast feeding both baby and mother will be healthy. There is no substitute to mother's milk which is natural, he said. The JC said that to ensure health future of baby, the mother should take nutritional food. The Anganwadi workers and ANMs should educate mothers on this aspect, he said.
He stressed on the need to propagate extensively on the benefits of breast feeding during entire year. Though this issue may look small, but it helps a lot to all growing babies when they get breast feeding without fail. He allayed misconceptions on breast feeding which was leading to ill health of both mother and baby. Breast feeding till the baby attains the age of three years is suggested, he said.
Prior to the meeting, the JC visited a stall on nutritious food for lactating mothers. On this occasion, he instructed the department to give extensive awareness among mothers and pregnant women on the nutritious food to make the effort meaningful. The department project director, K Vijayakumari also spoke on the occasion.
