Anantapur: Home minister Thaneti Vanitha congratulated the 28 probationary DSPs who completed their training at the local Police Training College (PTC), at the passing out parade here on Tuesday.

Addressing the probationary police officers, home minister Vanitha called upon the police officers to put into practice the valuable contents of the elite training, including the state-of-art technology that is crucial in crime investigation and in tackling cybercrimes and crimes against women. She urged women to make best use of Disha app and be vigilant with presence of mind on how to act in a crucial situation without getting panicky.

The home minister congratulated the police department in rising to the occasion in tackling crime, handling law and order and traffic bottle-necks.

DGP K V Rajendranath Reddy observed that what is learnt in the training may not sometimes match with ground realities but it has to be translated into action by effectively adopting theoretical calculations and concepts.

“The officers must remember to extend fair and equal treatment to everyone, irrespective of one’s social status. Never entertain egoism. It betrays the very calling of a police officer. One should develop good relations with all sections of the society and should be able to win the confidence of all sections of people,” the DGP exhorted.

He said that failure in doing so will tarnish the image of the government, the department as well as the police officer himself and his family.

The DGP said one should work with transparency and not succumb to pressures of any kind. One should act fast on any complaints and never sit on anything giving a wrong impression to people. One should treat the people who come to the police station rightly and understand the psychological condition of the complainants and petitioners, he said.

He recalled the swift action of the police with regard to the case of an acid attack on a woman in Eluru. While the victim succumbed to the acid attack unfortunately, the police worked sincerely to send the accused to jail and got the court to award 20 years jail to the heinous criminal.

Rajendranath revealed that 122 highly sensitive cases were entrusted to several SPs in districts. The SPs did a good job by bringing to book the criminals and awarding severe punishments to the accused.

In 2023 also, 50 crucial cases were entrusted out of which the accused have been booked and punished in 30 cases.

The DGP said it is heartening to learn that 1.24 crore women registered with the Disha app in the state.

The state police are being exposed to the state-of-art technologies and the results are overwhelming delivering the desired results. A special cell has been created to monitor the social media developments and take action accordingly. Cybercrimes, loan apps and job frauds are under scrutiny and acted upon accordingly.

Special focus is on uprooting ganjai smuggling and the borders of AP and Orissa states are under vigilance, the DGP said.
