Lockdown: Cops resort to lathi-charge on violators at Kurnool
As many as 238 cases have been booked on 96 persons for violating the rules
Kurnool: The police personnel have resorted to lathi-charge on lockdown violators in city and other places in the district on Tuesday. People in large numbers came on to the roads for purchase of essential commodities, vegetables and other items despite lockdown and imposition of Section 144.
Despite the orders in force several people were seen freely coming on to the roads. The cops however advised them to return back else their vehicles would be seized. After a while, the cops lost their temper and resorted to lathi charge on the violators. In One Town area, people were seen in groups and to disperse them the cops are forced to lathi charge.
Similarly, police took control of the situation at Raj Vihar Centre, which is the main junction that connects several roads. The CI of Two Town police station, D Maheshwar Reddy started slapping the violators.
Early in the morning the Superintendent of Police (SP), Dr Fakkeerappa Kaginelli inspected the situation. He appealed the people not to come out else they would be forced to take stringent action. He spoke to several motorists and ordered them to go back.
According to police 96 cases on 238 persons have been filed till date on the lock down violators. Apart from cases, 278 vehicles were also seized.
