Left parties to stage protests on Sept 3 opposing merger of Andhra Bank with UBI
The two Left parties, the CPI and CPM have decided to stage protests on September 3 across the state opposing the proposal for merger of Andhra Bank with the Union Bank of India. It may be noted that the BJP government has announced to merge Andra Bank with the Union Bank of India as part of the national policy to merge banks to form big banks.

The CPI State Secretary K Ramakrishna, the CPM State secretary P Madhu and other Left party leaders met at the CPI State office, Dasari Bhavan on Sunday and decided to stage protests on September 3 in front of the Andhra Bank branches in the State. K Ramakrishna has alleged the BJP is trying to provoke the religious sentiments of the people, He said the two parties decided to conduct meetings protesting against the anti people and anti workers policies being implemented by the BJP government and increasing attacks on the rights of the States in the country.
He said the Left parties will organise meetings in the state with the slogan 'Attacks on the rights of people-policies of the Union government' to highlight the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh by the BJP government on according Special Category Status, not granting of funds for the development of the backward regions and implementation of assurances given to the people of Andhra Pradesh as per the bifurcation Act. CPM state leader Y Venkateswara Rao, V Srinivasa Rao, CPI leader Muppalla Nageswara Rao, Jalli Wilson and J VV Satyanarayana Murthy were present in the meeting at Dasari Bhavan.
