Kurnool: YSRCP leader rams car into rival, opens fire

Kurnool: Following an old faction rivalry, a YSRCP supporter Amarnath Reddy on Wednesday allegedly attempted to kill his rival Rambhupal Reddy, a resident of Kadamakuntla village in Tuggali mandal of Kurnool district, with deadly weapons after hitting him with a Scorpio car, at Pathikonda town.
According to information, Rambhupal Reddy and Amarnath Reddy were both residents of Kadamakuntla village. They had an old rivalry since 1998 when Lakshmikanth Reddy, the father of Rambhupal Reddy was murdered by Amini Reddy, father of Amarnath Reddy. In a revenge, Rambhupal Reddy has also attacked on Animi Reddy and killed him in 2011. In the presence of village elders, both parties have compromised in 2016. After that Rambhupal Reddy has shifted his family to Hyderabad and was earning his bread and butter by joining as a home guard.
Rambhupal Reddy came to Kadamakuntla on Wednesday on 15 days leave period. After reaching village, he has gone to Urukunda Veeranna Swamy temple at Pathikonda to offer prayers. After offering prayers, he joined his friends to have a cup of tea. Amarnath Reddy on learning about Rambhupal Reddy's presence at Pathikonda reached to the spot and dashed him with his Scorpio car. In the incident, Rambhupal Reddy sustained leg fracture. Later Amarnath Reddy tried to attack him with iron rod. When Rambhupal Reddy tried to escape, Amarnath Reddy immediately draw his pistol and tried to fire at him. The others present at the spot has thwarted his attempt. Later Amarnath Reddy fled the scene. The locals immediately shifted Rambhupal Reddy to Pathikonda hospital for treatment.
Acting on tip-off given by locals, the Pathikonda police rushed to the hospital and recorded Rambhupal Reddy's statement.
Pathikonda Circle Inspector Narayana Reddy speaking to media said that they have registered a case based on the complaint given by Rambhupal Reddy. He said old rivalry is said to be reason for the attack. A man hunt was launched to nab the absconding accused Amarnath Reddy, said the CI said.
