According to information, some residents of Korhapeta under Two Town police station limits were selling fruits on pulling carts at the roadside quite opposite to Rythu Bazaar.
People who have visited the Rythu Bazaar were purchasing fruits from these vendors. In the meantime, the police personnel who visited the area saw the fruit vendors and became furious.
In a fit of rage, they overturned the carts and threw away the fruits. The rude behaviour of the police personnel has irked the residents of Korhapeta who gathered in large number and gheraoed the cops.
War of words exchanged between the residents and the cops. The residents demanded the reason for throwing away the fruits and damaging the carts.
Tense situation prevailed for about two hours. As Korhapeta is dominated with Muslims, a large number of people assembled in no time.
