Kurnool: Narrow roads, poll code hit door delivery of essentials
- Under the process, the residents will get a message mentioning the date and time of delivery of provisions
- If the resident fails to turn up at the specified date, he/she will lose that month’s essentials
- Ananta Rajendra Prasad, a resident says the beneficiary has to stand in queue line on the road where the commodities van is parked to get the provisions in the village instead of ration shop
Kurnool: The state government's prestigiously launched supplying of essential commodities at the doorstep of people through mobile vans is facing some teething problems in villages due to implementation of gram panchayats election code.
The scheme came into existence from February 1 in the state is aimed to see that the residents get the commodities at their doorstep instead of going to the ration shop and wasting precious time after standing in serpentine queues. The people thought it is a novel initiative taken by the government. With the election code come into force, door delivering has totally come to a standstill at rural areas. But the process is being continued at Municipalities. Here the actual problem has arisen. The vehicles carrying the essential commodities are not being delivering at every doorstep. The van is stationed at a place where the local people have to go and get the commodities after standing in long queue lines.
The people are facing one more problem also. To get the commodities, the residents will get a message mentioning the date and time of delivery. If the resident fails to avail the commodities at the specified date, then they have to lose the month's provisions.
Ananta Rajendra Prasad, a resident of Satyanarayana Colony in the town, speaking to The Hans India said that the people are facing lots of problems to get the commodities through mobile van. The commodities are not being delivered at doorsteps. People have to stand in the queue line on the road where the commodities van is parked to get the provisions. It seems that the residents are forcibly dragged on to the roads from their houses, alleged a resident.
He further said that the people were very happily getting provisions at the ration shops as per their convenient time. It would be better to continue the old system instead of the new one. They have never asked to supply the commodities at the doorstep, pointed out Rajendra Prasad.
Another resident, who is not interested to reveal his name, said why the government has taken such a wrong decision to introduce door delivery system. Did any of the residents have complained that they are not happy with the ration shops? The government's move to deliver the essential commodities at doorstep is utterly a flop one, criticised the resident.
Due to election code enforced at gram panchayats, the distribution of essential commodities is being done from the ration shops. But the distribution has not yet started in some villages. The dealers are saying that they were not granted permission to start and it may take another one or two days, stated a dealer.
Speaking to The Hans India, District Civil Supplies Officer (DCSO) Syed Yaseen said that door delivery of essential commodities was going on smoothly. At some places where the roads are very narrow and there was no possibility of passing the vehicles. Due to that point, the mobile van would be stationed at some place and people are asked to get the provisions, he stated.
Coming to rural areas, the government has not given permission, so it is taking some delay in the distribution of ration from the shops. It may take one or two days to accord permission and to resume distribution from the ration shops, stated Syed Yaseen.
