Kurnool: Huge explosion scares residents of Banaganapalle
Causes damage to nearby houses
Kurnool: The residents of Banaganapalle town and adjacent villages were startled following a huge explosion at Ravvalakonda on Thursday.
Ravvalakonda is located hardly a kilometre away from Banaganapalle main town. It is a hilly area and a zone for stone mining. The residents of Banaganapalle have never heard or seen such a huge explosion near their town.
Hardly four days ago, on November 15, a crude bomb exploded in the hands of a 12-years-old boy at Banaganapalle town. In the explosion the boy lost his two hands and later succumbed to injuries at the government general hospital while undergoing treatment.
Before the people could come out of the trauma, they were in for another shock with the huge explosion at Ravvalakonda. The nearby houses have developed cracks and the household materials were scattered.
According to information, several people, having political background, are running unauthorised stone quarries. Indiscriminate blasting is being done by using explosive materials. On Thursday also blasting had taken place using explosive materials. This resulted in an explosion of high intensity. The explosion had caused tremors, stated a source.
Circle Inspector of Banaganapalle police station, B Suresh Kumar Reddy, told The Hans India that a huge explosion had taken place at Ravvalakonda mining zone. The explosion pertained to 3 or more blasts happening at the same time. However, the Assistant Director of Mining department was informed to pursue the actual cause of the explosion, the Circle Inspector said.
"We have filed a case under relevant sections and taken up investigation. The actual facts would come to fore based upon the information given by the Assistant Director of Mining department," Suresh Kumar Reddy said.
