Krishna district: 45 lakh worth water treatment plant opened at Tarakaturu

Guduru (Krishna district): Minister for Transport and Information and Public Relations Perni Nani along with District collector A Md Imtiaz and joint collector Dr K Madhavi Latha inaugurated water treatment with a capacity of four million litres per day constructed at a cost of Rs 45 lakh at Tarakaturu village near Guduru in Krishna district on Friday.
Addressing the meeting got up in this connection, the minister said that almost all the villages in the coastal region in general and in Bandar mandal in particular have been suffering due to the drinking water scarcity. The slow sand filter at Old Akumarru pumping water scheme has been causing problems in supplying water to several villages and the water treatment plant would solve the problem forever.
He said that the works, which were delayed due to the Coronavirus, were finally completed by June.
Complimenting the efforts of the district collector in the completion of the plant, the minister said that people of the area would be grateful to him forever.
Ch AmareswaraRao, superintending engineer of RWS, said that the old slow sand filtration unit needed to be cleaned every three days. The new system would filter at five stages and cleaning could be done once a month taking down the maintenance cost. He said that the operators would be given necessary training for the water plant maintenance. The water purification and quality and quantity would be increased in due course, he said.
ZP CEO Suryaprakasa Rao, RDO NSK Khaza Vali, DWAMA PD-cum in-charge MDO GV Suryanarayana, municipal commissioner S Sivaramakrishna, MDO P Venkateswara Rao, tahsildar Vanajakshi and others were present.
