Kakinada: Streetlights are not working properly plunging many streets in the city into darkness. The people were afraid of walking on the roads in the darkness and as stray dogs biting them. The invisible potholes full of rain water were another problem.
Former councilor Dusarlapudi Ramana Raju said that 40 per cent of the streetlights were out of order in the city. The roads are partially visible during nights up to 10 am because of lighting from roadside shops. After 10 pm, the roads wore dark look.
Due to LED lights, the visibility was low, he said and demanded the Kakinada Municipal Corporation officials to take steps for functioning of all the streetlights. He warned that they would take out processions over the problem.
