Kakinada: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Kakinada president Ch Ram Kumar and several other leaders felt happy for the action taken by the State Election Commissioner N Ramesh Kumar regarding the mistakes committed by certain officials connected with the election process.
The BJP leaders and activists staged a dharna and leaders closed their mouths with black cloth in front of the Collectroate here on Monday. Ram Kumar complimented the SEC for postponing the local body elections in view of the deadly coronavirus, which has become a pandemic all over the world.
He said that the officials as well as the police have not taken any action against the ruling YSRCP government which indulged in the violations of norms and regulations in the elections process.
Ram Kumar said that YSRCP leaders didn't allow the BJP candidates to file their nominations by scaring them away. He said that this was completely against the Constitution and democratic values. He said that it was unfortunate that the the BJP leaders were being threatened and this cannot be tolerated. He also demanded the scraping of the elections in view of the grave lapses committed by the leaders in power.
