JC Prabhakar moves High Court for bail, wants cases cancelled
Former TDP MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy and his son Asmith Reddy, who were arrested on June 13 on charges of registering BS-3 vehicles as BS-4, have been denied bail by Anantapur local court.
Former TDP MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy and his son Asmith Reddy, who were arrested on June 13 on charges of registering BS-3 vehicles as BS-4, have been denied bail by Anantapur local court. However, father-son duo has moved the High Court for bail. JC Prabhakar Reddy, his wife Uma and son Asmith Reddy filed a petition in the High Court alleging that the government had conspired against them in the illegal registration of vehicles. They urged the court to direct Anantapur I town police to cancel the case filed against them and to suspend further proceedings in the case.
High Court Judge Justice M. Ganga Rao on Saturday held hearing and asked the public prosecutor to furnish the details of the case and postponed the hearing to Monday. The petition states that the Tadipatri urban and rural police have filed separate FIRs on the same issue and requested intervention of court in the case as he could be arrested. In the case of Nagaland vehicles, he requested to stop the filing of cases over the registration of vehicles.
Meanwhile, police took into custody on Saturday the trial of Jesse Prabhakar Reddy and his son, JC Asmith Reddy. He was shifted from Kadapa Central Prison to Anantapur I Town Police Station. "The duo will be placed at the station till Monday afternoon," the DSP said. Tadipatri DSP Srinivas said that Ambati Nageshwara Reddy, Akula Ramesh and Gutta Somasekhar of Tadipatri were arrested on Saturday on charges of converting BS-3 into BS-4 vehicles on the instructions of JC Prabhakar Reddy. It is noteworthy that they worked at Diwakar travels.
