Eluru: The district unit of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) demanded that the BJP-led Union government immediately introduce women reservation bill in parliament.
Addressing the extended meeting of AIDWA here, West Godavari unit secretary Harisha Durga said that women empowerment would not be possible without power to women. Mere 33 per cent reservation in local bodies would not help them attain self-sufficiency.
The BJP government need to give an explanation as it was talking about gender equality without giving 33 per cent reservations to women. She blamed RSS 'Manuvada' ideology for hurdles to passage of the bill in parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi lacked the personality to condemn the comments of RSS chief who said women must be restricted to kitchen, she alleged.
