House arrests, police pickets rock Guntur city
Guntur: MLC Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad and former Minister Nakka Anand Babu were placed under house arrest in the city on Wednesday. Former Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao put under house arrest at his residence in Chilakaluripet while former MLA D Narendra Kumar was put under house arrest in Ponnur.
Guntur West MLA Maddali Giri, former MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad, TDP district president G V Anjaneyulu have been shifted to Nallapalldu police station in Guntur city. AP Mahila Commission former Chairman Nannapaneni Rajakumari, former MLA Anita have been shifted to Chebrolu police station as a precautionary measure.
Police have deployed heavy force at TDP's State office and Wine Dealers' Association Hall in the city where a rehabilitation camp was set up for YSRCP victims. Police officials assured that they will provide security to the YSRCP victims and motivated them to return to their villages from the rehabilitation camp in Guntur city. They arranged buses to send the victims to their villages. Police set up pickets at all important places in the district to prevent untoward incidents.
Opposing police high-handedness, the TDP leaders protested at TDP's State office, Wine Dealers' Association Hall and Sankar Vilas Centre in the city on Wednesday protesting the alleged political killings in Palnadu region and raised slogans against the YSRCP government.
As soon as MLA Maddali Giri, G V Anjaneyulu, former MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad shifted to Nallapadu police station, they protested at the Nallapadu police station in Guntur city criticising the failure of the government to resolve the problems of victims. MLA Maddali Giri said that unable to solve problems of the victims, the government was using police force to stop their Chalo Atmakuru yatra.
