Happy Bhogi: Telugu states celebrate the festival of bonfire with fervour and joy

Sankranti is one of the most beloved festivals for Telugu people especially for farmers who celebrate with joy and fervour as they reap the crops at this time. The people of Telugu states are celebrating the Bhogi which is a day before the festival by lighting up the fire at their homes to get rid of the old and embrace the new.

While women gearing up for preparation of sweets and delicious food at their home, the men are prepping up for the cockfights especially in parts of Andhra Pradesh and the children would be enjoying the festival by flying kites.

The political leaders, celebrities and other well-known people are sending out the wishes to the public through social media platforms.

However, Amaravati farmers are avoiding the festival this year since the AP government is trying to shift the capital from Amaravati to Vishakhapatnam. Opposing that government's move, Amaravati farmers have announced that they will not celebrate Bhogi and Sankranti this year. TDP also said that they are away from celebrations in solidarity to Amaravati farmers.

The festival is celebrated annually on January 14th with the intention of leaving all wasted in Bhofi bonfire and embracing new. In this case, the wood wastes and other obsolete items are burnt in the fire. So check out the garbage at your homes and put it in Bhogi flames to celebrate the festival.
