Guntur: The rural police on Sunday arrested a 11-member gang including a police constable Peda Bachi attached to Pedakurapadu police station, for kidnapping a landowner and forcibly registered 6.33 acres of land worth Rs 15 crore on their name.

According to Rural SP Ch Vijaya Rao, the prime accused Chekuri Venkateswara Rao kidnapped Ramesh and his uncle Hanumantha Rao demanding them to register their 6.33 acre land in Dharanikota on his family members name. He tied their legs and hands with a rope and confined them in a rice mill and threatened to kill them. He also threatened to kill their children, if he did not register his land on their name.

He got registered 6.33 acre land situated at Dharanikota on his family members and his relative name B Naraiah, B Naga Swarupa, P Venkateswarulu's name in Amaravati sub-registrar's office with the help of remaining accused.

Based on the complaint lodged by Ramesh, the police started investigation and arrested the accused while they were meeting in Amaravati on Sunday. The police arrested the prime accused Chekuri Venkateswara Rao, Sk Raheed, Bandarupalli Gnaneswara Rao, M Ravindra Reddy, constable Peda Bachi and another six accused. Another accused in the case G Vinod Kumar was in jail in connection with another case.
