Govt to spend 130 crore for schools development in Anantapur district
Minister for BC Welfare M Sankara Narayana stated that 1,240 government schools in the district will have a new look by 2020 academic year.
Anantapur: Minister for BC Welfare M Sankara Narayana stated that 1,240 government schools in the district will have a new look by 2020 academic year. Old buildings will be renovated and repaired and basic amenities like drinking water, toilets, compound walls and power supply will be provided and quality of education will be improved.
Addressing the 'Naadu-Nedu' program organised by the education department here on Friday, Narayana said that out of the 3,490 government schools 1,240 schools will be covered in the first phase and the remaining in the second phase. The promise made by Jagan Mohan Reddy during his padayatra has been fulfilled, the minister said.
The quality of education will be on par with corporate private schools with English medium instruction for classes 1-6 in all government schools. The minister took pains to explain that Telugu language will not be neglected.
Narayana said that school repairs will be carried out from November to June. From January 1st onwards the Amma Vodi scheme will be implemented and every child will be given Rs.15,000 for meeting education expenses. The money will be credited into the accounts of parents.
MLC Mohamed Iqbal stated that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is a man of word and he is trying to keep every promise made to people. District Collector S Sathyanarayana said that the government is bringing revolutionary changes in education and improving infrastructure in schools.
