Government handled floods efficiently: Minister
Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar said on Saturday the flood water is receding gradually and will come down to 7 lakh cusecs from 8 lakh cusecs in one or two days.
Vijayawada: Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar said on Saturday the flood water is receding gradually and will come down to 7 lakh cusecs from 8 lakh cusecs in one or two days. He was addressing media conference at the Prakasam barrage along with Ministers Botcha Satyanarayana, Velampalli Srinivas and Perni Nani, Kodali Nani and Central MLA Malladi Vishnu.
Anil Kumar said that 15,000 people were evacuated from flood affected areas to rehabilitation centres in Krishna and Guntur districts and agriculture crops were damaged in 6,000 hectares and horticulture crops in 4,000 hectares in two districts.
He said enumeration of crop loss will be conducted after receding of floodwaters and compensation will be paid to farmers also. He said the officials have worked in co-ordination and prevented the loss of lives by evacuating 15,000 people to the safer places and rehabilitation centres.
He said farmers were happy with the rainfall and filling of reservoirs in the State. He alleged the Opposition TDP was leveling baseless allegations on the YSRCP government on the flood management. He said the State government had handled the flood situation efficiently and released floodwaters from one reservoir to other without causing any loss.
He said both former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh were leveling baseless allegations on the government unable to digest the growing popularity of government.
Minister for Municipal Administration Botcha Satyanarayana said the administration efficiently handled the floods in the State. He assured the government would pay compensation to loss suffered by the people due to floods soon.
