Srikakulam: The State government is committed to improve basic facilities at all sports stadiums across the state, said Minister for Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Sports and Tourism D Krishna Das and M Srinivasa Rao respectively.

Inaugurating the indoor stadium at Kondamulagam village in Ranastalam mandal on Friday, the ministers said the government would encourage rural talent and provide all basic amenities at mini-stadiums across the State.

The indoor stadium was constructed with Rs 2 crore under the supervision of Police Housing Corporation's engineering wing. "To encourage rural talent, we are going to provide all required facilities and Srikakulam is famous for sports persons and athletes" they added.

The ministers also assured to complete Kodi Rammurthy stadium modernisation works by January 1, 2020. The ministers said that sports and games would improve confidence among students.

The ministers appealed to parents of the students to encourage their children to participate in sports and games. MP B Chandra Sekhar, Etcherla MLA G Kiran Kumar, Collector J Nivas also spoke. Later the ministers had a darshan of Sun God at Arasavalli in Srikakulam city.
