Vijayawada: The youth should play a key role in stopping child marriages in society, said AP State Child Rights Welfare Commission member Vallabhaneni Krishna Kumar. He participated as chief guest at girl's advocacy alliance programme organised by Mahita Plan India, the NGO at Forum for Child rights premises on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering on 'child marriages-youth role', Krishna Kumar said that child marriages are becoming the obstacles for the girl child's development in her life. He asserted that the youth should aware and should sensitise the people who prefer the social evil child marriage.

Child rights committee Krishna district chairperson BVS Kumar, All India Brahmana Federation president Dr Laksmipathi, Women police station Superintendent of Police Purnima, Mary's Stella College, HoD of Department of Social Work Sister Sahaya Mary, Nehru Yuva Kendra coordinator Ramana and DCPO, Krishna District, Vijaya Kumar were present.
