Gentlemen Ride held to educate people on prostate cancer, mental health in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: The pathway near Railway New Colony roared with thumping sounds of 12 Vintage Classic bikes as a bunch of city bikers took out a rally to spread awareness about prostate cancer and mental health on Sunday.

The rally was titled 'Gentlemen's Ride,' where all the riders were dressed in dapper attire.Interestingly, this year a woman rider dressed in dapper arrived at the starting point with her bike Enfield UC -350.

Poornima Dhanala, a student says," Well, we always contribute towards women and children and we ignore the importance of problems faced by men all the time. This year, I am riding for the men of my country and the men who played an important role in my life."

The ride began at 10 am and passed through a number of spots in the city such as MVP Double Road, Dutt Island, VIP road and the ride ended at Gluttons Garrage.

Many biking enthusiasts participated in the event, Ravi Kumar (52) completed the Gentlemen Ride in his classic 1998 Harley Davidson. Nevertheless, he has a collection of 15 vintage bikes. Sampath Narayana, a police constable and an enthusiastic rider, supports the concept.

"I really enjoyed the ride and for the first time riders from all age groups participated for a cause to spread awareness about prostate cancer and mental health.

It is interesting to witness riders not in gears and jacket but in formal attire for a cause."Naveen Nembhwani, a biker from the city, believes that such rides should be organised quite often. Men usually have the tendency to bottle up feelings and rides like these will help them to open up.
