Prakhar Jain, Managing Director of the Disaster Management Authority, has warned that extreme heat conditions will persist over the next two days, with maximum temperatures expected to reach between 42°C and 43°C.
Officials from the Meteorological Department have forecast severe heatwave conditions in multiple regions. On Friday, as many as 54 mandals are likely to face severe heatwave conditions, while an additional 16 mandals may experience moderate heatwaves. The districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Parvathipuram Manyam are expected to be among the worst affected.
The heat is set to continue into Saturday, with severe heatwave conditions predicted in 41 mandals and moderate heatwaves in 21 mandals. District-wise, Vizianagaram is expected to see the highest impact with 19 affected mandals, followed by Srikakulam with 13 and Parvathipuram Manyam with 11. Several mandals in Alluri Sitarama Raju, Polavaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, and Kakinada districts are also likely to be affected.
Meanwhile, recent temperature data highlights the severity of the situation. On Thursday, Rajam in Vizianagaram district recorded a high of 40.6°C. Temperatures reached 40°C in Makkubva and Nindra, while Dharmajigudem, Renigunta, and Poduru all recorded temperatures exceeding 39°C, intensifying discomfort for residents across the state.
