Eluru: The CPM has criticized the state government for not providing proper treatment and facilities to patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at Asram hospital here. Addressing the media, the party city secretary P Kishore alleged that the patients were provided with only two litres of drinking water, one litre in the morning and one in the afternoon. The breakfast is provided at 10 am and lunch at 3 pm. While the government was boasting of providing facilities by spending Rs 11,000 on each patient, the treatment extended to the patients was contradicting from what the claims of the government, he lamented.
The patients have been phoning their relatives and elaborating their tale of woes, he said. They have been getting food from outside as the food given to them by the hospital authorities is not sufficient enough.
Quoting the patients, he said diabetic patients were suffering a lot in the hospital. The hospital was giving gas tablet in the morning, B Complex tablet in the afternoon and fever tablet in the night. He wondered what kind of the treatment it was to the patients suffering from Covid-19. The authorities have been neglecting the patients as there is sharp rise in the number of patients taking admission in the hospital with the disease.
