Efforts apace to reduce plastic waste in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: With major concerns over pollution, many states are coming forward to impose the plastic ban in their cities. Recently, Vijayawada, one of the prominent cities of AP, is took the initiative to implement plastic ban.
With the increase of plastic waste in the city, the officials are taking steps towards banning plastic in the city.
Krishna District Collector MD Imtiaz has announced that there would be a complete ban over the use of plastic in the city and a statement is going to be released next week.
The Collector said the use of plastic is high at function halls, restaurants, hotels, and shops. He added that very soon, awareness programs would be conducted on the side effects of plastic use to the public. As the alternative to the plastic, cotton cloth bags, the paper glass would be implemented.
He noted that special drives would be conducted with the support of corporation, police and commercial tax departments. In the context, the Collector said measures would be taken to reduce plastic in the city. For which, awareness will also be created through social media in public.
