Tirupati: DYFI youth staged a protest in stagnated rain water on the road at Tiruchanur on Wednesday. They took up a novel protest and sat in the rain water with placards. More than five hours they sat in the rainwater potholes on the road. Due to heavy rains all the important roads have turned into water ponds in the city. At Tiruchanur flyover road was seen as a rainwater pond, and commuters are facing problems to cross this junction under knee deep water. For the last ten days the same scene continued in this junction officials did not clear the rainwater on the road. In this connection DYFI Tirupati District Secretary S JayaChandra criticised that officials have ignored the issue. He added that people have been suffering for the last 10 days to use this road to go to Tirupati city for attending day to day works.
He mentioned that with continued stagnated rainwater the total road was damaged and vehicle commuters suffered a lot due to deep potholes on the road. Though we submitted the representation two times officials have not considered, JayaChandra added. He said that every day thousands of local residents and devotees were traveling via this road to Tiruchanur.
The DYFI secretary questioned why the roads were repaired during only PM, President and CM visits. Remaining all the time officials are not taking interest to address the road repairs. At 2 pm Tiruchanuru police contacted the officials concerned over phone and dispersed the protesters from the rainwater ditches on the road at Tiruchanur.
In the novel protest DYFI Tirupati city Secretary Suman, Rajashekar, Mani, Sathish, Pavan, Selvam, Shanmugam and Murali took part.
