Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) a giant in Engineering and Infrastructure development sectors, also showing its mettle in social sector development. Apart from focusing on providing critical infrastructures like drinking water, roads and sanitation facilities, the company is also enabling for the improvement of education and medical infrastructure, primarily focusing on cancer affected people; It is also trying to feed lakhs of people under a program called Bhojanaamrutham.
As part of corporate social responsibility, MEIL has adopted several villages in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and providing a critical infrastructure in drinking water and health care sectors. It also provides mid-day meals to attendants and relatives of patients in various hospitals. Special attention is being put on cancer effected children; the company is extending all the support to them. Apart from the needed medicines, it is also providing mid-day meals to these children. It has constructed an Oncology building with ultra-modern facilities for Cancer patients at Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad. To address the hunger issue of farmer's families, it is implementing an innovative program named 'Saddimoota'.
Village Adoption
Considering the fact that villages are a lifeline for the country's progress, MEIL has extended its social services to rural areas so as to provide momentum for their growth. At a time when the public representatives are neglecting their own constituencies, MEIL has taken an initiative of adopting the villages in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh without any political agenda, just to lend support for the prosperity of rural people. It has adopted a number of villages and provides all the needed critical infrastructure that includes pure, safe drinking water.
Jamulapalli in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh is one of such adopted villages. By completing the modernization of two Over Head Tanks, with capacities of 20000 and 40000 litres each, MEIL has enabled each and every house of the village to get pure and safe drinking water. Company has adopted an ultra-modern technology called 'Feral' in this scheme that enables the supply of water with equal pressure to all the households. MEIL established one 12 KV solar plant and two mineral water plants in this village.
In Dokiparru and Khaja villages of Krishna District, MEIL provided access to safe drinking water for all the households through a pipeline. It has constructed a Kalyana Mandapam and Temple in Dokiparru village; and also provided support for constructing the several individual toilets and street-level solar lighting system in this village. It also supported in improving the roads, making the village as a model village. In Khaja, the company addressed the public difficulties in accessing safe water; other infrastructures like roads and solar lighting system etc., have been provided to this village.
Piped LPG supply in Dokiparru
This village got the distinction as a first PNG village in entire South India. MEIL introduced a piped supply of LPG gas to all the households in this village from January 2019. With this initiative, local people are getting LPG at a low cost, in a very safe way.
In Telangana, MEIL has adopted Paspula and Muraharidoddi villages in Mahabubnagar District. Apart from improving the roads, arranging a solar lighting system, more than 250 Individual Toilets have also been constructed by the company in these two villages.
Nagalapuram and Ganjiguntapalli villages in Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh have also been adopted by MEIL; school infrastructure in these villages is improved by providing Benches and Desks etc, apart from developing parks and constructing a Kalyana Mandapam.
'Bhoojanamurtham' in Hospitals
MEIL initiated this unique program to provide mid-day meal to the hapless patients and their attendants at various government hospitals. In the first phase, it started its operations at Nilofur Children's Hospital and Osmania General Hospital in Hyderabad. In the second phase, this was extended to other government hospitals in Nizamabad and Bodhan. Mid-day meal is being served every day to more than 400 people in each of these hospitals.
MEIL is also providing the best quality nutritious food to the child patients getting treatment at MNJ Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad. For extending help to children suffering from chronic life-threatening diseases, MEIL has been supporting a local NGO called 'Pranam Foundation' and enabling them to get better medical treatment. In Warangal District, the company is providing healthy food and other required things to the children suffering from HIV. Through one of its innovative program 'Saddimoota', MEIL is feeding a number of farmers, farm labour and hamalis working at Market Yards of Siddipet, Gajwel and Ontimaamidi etc.
Ultra- Modern Oncology Building at NIMS
MEIL has constructed an ultra-modern Oncology building at NIMS with a total cost of Rs 5 Crores. Here all the facilities are on par with Corporate Hospitals. There are special wards like Emergency Ward, Leukemia Ward and separate wards for Women and Men, apart from consulting and resting rooms for all the Doctors, Nurses and other supporting staff. Facilities for ICU with centralized AC and sufficient Oxygen supply with a number of beds, lifts etc have been provided in this building. This new building was inaugurated on September 23, 2018, by the Health Minister Lakshma Reddy and Municipal Administration Minister Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao.
