Visakhapatnam: With an objective to enhance women's safety, security and wellbeing, Disha police station was launched in the city and across the state on Saturday. After the implementation of the Disha Act in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated Disha police stations in the state through videoconference.

About 18 such police stations have been launched in 13 districts both in rural and urban areas across the state. Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner of Police R K Meena said that the Disha police stations intend to resolve the cases pertaining to women and girls on a fast track mode.

"Next, the State government will establish a forensic lab and a DNA test centre soon," he stated.

Police officials and employees from other departments were present at the launch of the new facility in the city.
