The DGP of Andhra Pradesh Gautam Sawang said that the state has set up a special division for women's protection under the title Disha for the first time in the country. Gautam Sawang on Wednesday inspected the Disha police station at Rajamahendravaram in the East Godavari district. Speaking to media, he said the government has set up Disha police station at 18 places in the state.

He said the police department would provide the necessary mechanism for speedy investigation of the cases, especially cases about heinous crimes on women. "We are looking at a full-fledged staff, including two DSPs, CIs, SIs and 38 constables at the Disha police station," Sawang said. He added that the cases would be completed within a week and would provide justice to the victims. The DGP has made clear that the CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would tour Rajamahendravaram and launch the first-ever Disha police station.

Sawang said that the police system is undergoing significant changes to speedily address not only the cases pertaining to women but also other cases. Sawang said the victims would be brought to justice as soon as possible through the Disha police stations.
