Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has placed officials on high alert following Cyclone Arnab. During a teleconference with state and field-level authorities, he reviewed preparations and response measures.

Naidu asked whether there had been any casualties in affected areas. Officials said no loss of life had been reported so far. District Collectors said rainfall had eased in some districts, although strong winds continued. The Chief Minister instructed officials to take all necessary steps to prevent damage to property.

The cyclone brought heavy rain and intense gusts to Yanam, making landfall around midnight between Yanam and Antarvedi. In the coastal village of Savitri Nagar, seawater surged inland and left the village under about three feet of water. Residents have taken shelter in designated cyclone shelters.

Minister Malladi Krishna Rao and Administrator Shivaraj Meena are monitoring the situation. The storm also caused a power cut lasting about 20 hours, leaving the entire Yanam region without electricity. Several electricity poles and trees were uprooted, causing fear and distress among residents.

Rain continues to fall heavily across the area.
