Kadapa: Bandolla Yerramma a middle aged farm hand at Ankupalle village in Badwel mandal has never expected that she will be a famer. Today Yerramma is a proud owner of land. " Earlier I was more worried about my daughter's marriage as we used to find hard to even earn out daily bread during dry agriculture season. I changed a lot. This time I am prepared to give dowry for my daughter's marriage because of the earning I am getting through cultivating horticulture crops "she says proudly.
This is the story of Yerramma , who is one of the beneficiaries of Land Purchase Scheme (LPS) a comprehensive Land Developing Programme (CLDP) of the state government.
Muganuru Venkatamma Venkatapuram village of Railway Kodur mandal another farm hand says , that for generations they had to remain farm hands and that they had never dreamt of owning even cent of land.
" Today we are happy to be owner of our lands. We are happier that fate of our children will not be the same as ours and now they can lead better life that what we had "said.
Like Yerramma and Venkatamma there are several women who have become proud owners of farm lands and are utilizing lands to improve their lively hood. CLDP was introduced at Ankepalle in 2006 with an aim of to improve living standards of the poor , especially of the down trodden. The beneficiaries cannot earlier sell or handed over their land to the others and any such act will consider s an offence.
The government has made applicable this scheme is being implemented by District Water Management Agency (DWMA) in the mandals Railway kodur, Bedwel, Rayachoti, Vempalle, Jammalamadugu, Kondapuram, Gopavaram, Penalaguru, Chinnamandem, Rayachoti etc in the district.
As per the norms the beneficiaries needed to invest single paisa either on the land or crop as the government will provide all the facilities including necessary plants, fertilizers. After harvesting the crop government will purchase the produce by providing Minimum Support Price(MSP) to the beneficiaries.
