In the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, contrasting weather patterns are emerging. While cold weather grips many districts, with temperatures dipping into single digits, rainfall is anticipated in other areas.
The chill has intensified in both states, leading to nighttime temperatures plunging significantly. For instance, Adilabad recorded a low of 9.2°C, while Medak noted 9.8°C. Other notable temperatures include Patan Cheruvu at 10.2°C, and several regions in Hyderabad witnessing lows between 12°C and 15°C.
Compounding these conditions, a series of low-pressure areas are developing over the Bay of Bengal. A low-pressure system has already formed in the southwest Bay, with the Indian Meteorological Department forecasting another to emerge in the southeast by 22nd November. This new system is expected to move west-northwest over the next 48 hours, potentially intensifying and causing further drops in night temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees below normal.
Light rain accompanied by thunderstorms is anticipated in coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema, and Yanam on Monday, although mostly dry weather is expected moving forward. The continued cold snap is causing concern among residents as they prepare for cooler days ahead.
