Addressing a meeting of the leaders of various political parties at Municipal Corporation office here on Tuesday, he asked the leaders to strictly follow the election code of conduct. The Election Commission has released revised guidelines for conducting the elections. Those who violate the prescribed rules and regulations, they will be disqualified or will be imprisoned, the DSP said. He made it clear that due permission should be obtained from the police authorities for organising public meetings or rallies. He warned that the distribution of money, wine or gifts would be viewed seriously.
Presiding over the meet, Chittoor Municipal Commissioner C Obulesh said that 18 Returning Officers were appointed for the conduct of polls. Nominations from candidates will be received from 11 centres in Chittoor city. Elections for 50 divisions in Chittoor Municipal Corporation will be held on March 23 March commencing from 7am to 5pm. Counting of votes will be held at PVKN Government Degree College, Chittoor on March 27 from 8 am onwards. Town Planning Officer T Nagendra, Assistant Commissioner C Lakshmi and representatives of political parties were present.
